Sniffle Snort Wheeze

Day Three of raging allergies and no sign of them letting up. In fact they are laughing at my various attempts to squelch them with assorted drugs.

Sunday I woke up with such itchy eyes they were sore from me rubbing them within minutes. Hubby had recently purchased some Aerius antihistamine, but it did diddly-squat for me, so I cracked into the Benadryl (forgetting that I usually take them at night) and popped two of them as per the recommended dosage for an adult. Fast forward twenty minutes and I felt like someone had slipped me a Rufi. I was so stoned on them I could hardly function. In fact, here is my son trying to comfort me:

Or rather I made a convenient bed for him to lie on. Anyhoo - hubby went out shopping a little later and picked up my old faithful Claritin, which has worked much better and doesn't make me feel like a teenager after a rock concert. Still kinda itchy tho'.

Other than that, nothing really new to report here. Kids are already driving me crazy (only three and a half weeks until all day summer camp commences for the girl, suh-weet!) and I am up to my eyeballs in projects! Really, had you asked me in January, heck June, of 2005 what I thought I would be doing with myself only two short years later, I never would have said I'd be helping a pretty great orthopaedic surgeon with some really worthwhile and valuable projects. It feels so great to have a purpose (outside of raising decent humans, of course - ain't no more worthy cause than that!)

Now I have to go and check the pollen count to see what delights are in store for me tomorrow! Wheee!

Yeg

Shouldn't there be a rule, or some sort of law, to the effect of "Mommy doesn't get the stomach flu when she's been cleaning up barf for two days already"? I'm just sayin'.

Seriously, if this is how the kids were feeling, I feel very bad for them now. Yeg.

Give It Up For Stomach Flu!

Well, who would ever think that there is a silver lining to throw-up? Not me, but there IS!

Yesterday, Hayden had a morning nap of two hours (usually it's an hour and a half) and Kes laid around in the couch. Sweet. Then in the afternoon, Hayden went down for a second nap and I had small hope that it would be for very long. Kes objected mildly about laying down for awhile, but then I noticed her hovering at the bottom of the stairs (it's gated) with her soothers and stuffed rat. I read her a story and her eyes were rolling up in her head, so I knew she'd sleep for a little while at least. Yep - two and half hours and then Hamster Boy managed three and a quarter hours! I didn't know what to do with myself!

Then the unthinkable happened! At about six o'clock, after everyone had been fed, I was sitting at my computer (Kes has been monopolizing it lately) and Kes came over to me and asked to get ready for bed!! Yahoo! That never happens here!

In the night, Kes came into our room around 3am-ish and snuggled in. She asked me to get her some water so I did. We were lulled into a false sense of security. At four I woke to the inevitable "BLAH" sound and leapt out of bed, narrowly escaping a puke bath (sorry for that). Fortunately it was mostly water. We had to turn on a light, which unfortunately disturbed Hayden, but once everyone was settled back in, Kes safely restored to her bed with a bucket waiting, we all fell back to sleep until about 7. Then Hayden woke up and was demanding to be retrieved. I guess since he technically slept for 13 hours, I couldn't really complain, but boy it hurt to get up. Ow.

There has been no barfage since then, so we may be in the clear. Sadly, Kes could not go to preschool today and if you read my previous post of a couple of days ago, you know that is not a good thing in either of our worlds. Fortunately she likes this website a lot. It has over 750 free games, most of which she has figured out on her own.

I can't wait until tomorrow...hopefully we will be have returned to our regularly scheduled program.

Even Insaner Sundays!

Okay, I went and said it and I shouldn't have because I know that I cursed myself. I said the boy wasn't sick. Not quite twelve hours after the first episode, around 10pm last night, Kestrel woke up doing "that thing". She proceeded to do it about three more times in the next hour. It wasn't too bad because at least she's big enough to use a bowl when given one.

All was quiet until around 4am, I heard Hayden doing the "gulp". Oh yeah, in the hair and everything. 4:34am - again. 4:49am - Kestrel again. Oh, it was a helluva night! I laid awake convincing myself I also had it, but was probably just really grossed out.

This morning has consisted of a bath first thing for them and a lot of laying around. Had a couple of commitments today, so those will have to be a pass!
