Out of the Chrysalis

Today was my first full day alone with out any kids. I had some mild anxiety after dropping Hayden off at daycare, but I just had to remind myself that the daycare mom has done this four times over with her own kids, two of them being only one year apart. There ain't nothing she hasn't seen.

I had a hair appointment booked for the afternoon, so I decided to make it a full day of beauty. I started by having a leisurely shower without having one ear cocked for a crying baby. Then before I went out, I swept, vacuumed and mopped the kitchen floor. I think that is the cleanest our laminate has looked since we put it down four years ago. I headed off to the local "Georgeous Pretty Beauty Nail Salon" and ordered up a full set of acrylic nails, French tips please. I am in heaven. I've had false nails over the years, but have delayed putting them on when the babies are small in case I gouge them with one of the nails. But my own nails have been a horrid mess, tearing well below the cuticle line and causing me unending grief and agony, so I decided what the heck! Once I had them on, I headed off to my hair appointment and was pampered for two glorious hours. So, here is the before shot:

I think I'd had a fair bit to drink in this photo, so that is why my left eye looks wonky! Yeesh!

Here is the after:

Well, you can't see it that well, but don't the nails look purdy? Here's one of me and the boy:

Can I just explain to you all how wonderful it is to really "hold" him? Sure he now has a bar across his feet, but I can bend his knees and fold him into me and it is sweet! I can also fasten his clothes around his legs now!

And just because I am in a picture sharing mood, here is Kestrel's latest trick:

Aren't three-year-olds great?

Just thought I'd let you know how great it was to see your smiling face. I am so glad that you were able to enjoy some time for yourself. It was well deserved as you are a very self-sacrificing Mom. And, as for Kes, I don't think I will share her French-fries anymore!!
