Is There Such a Thing as a Foot Reduction?

Okay - there is something wrong with me. My feet are too big. As sizes go, they're still within the "mainstream" sizing as a hefty 10, but that does not mean they have not been the bane of my existence since they reached that size.

I was into a ladies shoe size by age 9, which at that time I thought was cool. By the time I was a teenager and into a 10, it was depressing. Shoe shopping has always been cause for hyperventilating on my part. There has definitely been a lot of "settling" in my world when it came to shoes. The introduction of stores like Payless Shoe Source alleviated some of the stress as they carry shoes up to size 12, but still - they are not exactly quality shoes. I have rarely owned a comfortable pair of shoes and when I have - I've worn them to their untimely graves. I have literally had to force myself to throw footwear out even though it was "talking".

Anyway - the big feet. Here is my rant for the day. Can I please stop doing this?

This is a case of toe meets corner of wall with baseboard. Here's one from about two months ago that was toe meets IKEA box in the dark:

And remember this?

If there was a way to shorten my feet, I'd so be there. Ow.

Ouch! but at least your toe ring looks good on you. My toes aren't that long, and toe rings look kind of silly.

At least you fit into a regular width of shoe. I'm a size 9....W I D E ! It is really, really hard to find shoes that are comfy for my feet. And forget high heels. I love how gorgeous they are, but none of them feel good on my feet.

If you find that "foot reduction" specialist let me know. Maybe he can shave an inch off the sides of my feet.

I also have extremely large feet and I hate it, I wear a size 11 WIDE and have since I was 12. I own a sad 2 pairs of dress shoes and no casual sandals. I wear flip flops 99% of the time and I hate it. I wear nice clothes alot and I have ruined outfit after outfit with UGLY flip flops. I am considering foot reduction surgery because the sides of my feet are so large, can they just shave the bone down like a nose job? Has anyone ever heard of that?

I'm 21, and I've had size 13/14 feet since I was 11.

Unfortunately whenever I try to buy shoes online, the listings are all for million inch heels and say 'Perfect for Transvestites and Crossdressers!' OR they look like veritable old lady shoes.

I'm sure that's what every young lady wants to be hearing.

You can get all the awesome brands in a nine, whether they are casual, dressy or fetish . So yeah, not much sympathy there.

Your feet are a size 10, so I amend that. My apologies. I believe my statement still stands, however.

Hi Robot - I feel for you. As hard as it can be to find size 10 shoes I am still able to shop, for the most part, in stores for shoes. Someone needs to start making larger size shoes as a specialty and actually shoe making is something I have thought about looking into, when I was trying to find decent shoes for my son because of his clubfoot situation. He still has a very wide foot with a tiny length and can't wear most mainstream shoes out there.

Good luck to you in your shoe quest!

Some of the shoes and boots at Tall Girl (tallgirlshop.com) go up to size 13, but I am afraid they are fairly expensive (ranging from $135 to $330 it looks like).

I have terribly wide feet. I can NEVER find shoes that work. My foot in length is only a 8 or 8.5 but my foot is really wide. I would be shoe crazy if I could actually fit into a shoe. My foot always stretches it out! I can't even where flats because my foot hangs off the side. It truly sucks to have wide feet.

Aww man i am so happy i found some people that have the same problem as me , and i tought i was like the only one in the world that has this problem , all of ur stories fit mine ! i am really tall like 5´9 or somin 1.77 cm its not that tall but because of it people tend to look at my feet and everytime i go somewhere people stare , ive also been bullied at school because of it and when people ask my foot size i lie , the most embaressing thing happend to me, yesterday , i went to pedicure and i had to put my feet in this like machine or bowl and guess what my feet didnt fit in it , i felt so stupid and ebaressed i just wanted to dissapear! I always have problems finding shoes , i live in Portugal and here the people are really small like really small and they only have till size 9 or so and when i do get shoes i wear them untill theres barely any left. i hate going shopping for shoes because i dont say my shoe size to the attendent i have to go "in general , whats ur biggest shoe size " and they always go well what shoe size do u want ? i hate them ! and the people who hand me the shoes nromallly go well theres really nice men shoes , im like fuck u ! i want normall shoes , high heels , gladiators!!! i want to go in a shop and buy millions of nice shoes ! everything i wear doesnt have to depend on the few shoes i have ! when i walk i want to feel comfortable when people look! im really glad some people out ther efeel the same , it makes it feel better that im not alone , but were all in this together :)

It would seem that things are marginally better here in the UK (I am assuming from the comments that you're all in America?)
I'm an English 11, which I think is an American 13, and wide too, but I can recommend these sites for not too expensive, and comfortable shoes:
www.evans.co.uk (wide, up to a generous UK 10, not the best quality but very cheap)
www.longtallsally.co.uk (sometimes their sizes come up a tad small)
www.magnusshoes.com (lots are dowdy, but occasionally you get a gem - my favourite court shoes came from here and have lasted for years)
I hope that helps!

But seriously to me, it sounds embarrassing when am being asked the size of my shoe, but i have learnt to accept it the way it is, and thank God atleast i have legs. But what i want to do now is learn ways to beautify my feets, or what do you think?
